Terracare Associates captures SEVEN prestigious National Awards of Excellence for Landscape Maintenance Services

Our Terracare team is proud to announce that we were awarded seven 2018 Awards of Excellence by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP). This achievement recognizes the Terracare team for outstanding landscape maintenance and installation services honoring the following properties: 17Seventeen McKinney Construction Project, Centennial Center Park, Grapevine Public Safety Building, One Legacy West, The REC of Grapevine, The Source, and Wind Crest Retirement Community. We have built a strong partnership with our clients and are thrilled to share this award with each one of them. Our teams work diligently each day to bring out the best in every property.

17Seventeen McKinney Construction Project, Texas-

Located in the heart of Uptown Dallas, this property features 19 stories of office space. It is also connected to a luxury apartment building by a one-acre amenity deck on the seventh floor. Terracare restored this amenity deck to reflect the rest of the upscale property. Many challenges arose during the completion of this project including sinking soil conditions and scheduling. Our crews met these issues with intuitive and cost effective solutions. We provided the client an atmosphere that was aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable for both the employees and the residents.

Centennial Center Park, Colorado-

Serving as a focal point for the city of Centennial’s nearly 110,000 residents, this iconic park allows people of all ages to relax and gather to build a sense of community. Along with an awarding winning playground, the park also contains an amphitheater with large turf seating, a coffee shelter, a large picnic shelter and plaza, a native butte, walking gardens, and a creek that flows along the west side of the park. By keeping the park’s landscape in pristine condition, the city’s’ residents have the opportunity to grow in community while taking in the beautiful scenery that the park offers.

Grapevine Public Safety Building, Texas-

This project is located on 104,000 square feet and includes both the police and fire department, the city jail, police dispatch, information technology services, the municipal court and two indoor kennels for the city’s K9 units. Given a shortened deadline due to a highly anticipated grand opening, our amazing team was able to meet this challenge. We created a property that reflects the pride and importance of the organizations that call the Public Safety Building home.

One Legacy West, Texas-

One Legacy West is a 14-story, five star office tower located in the booming Legacy West area of Plano, Texas. Terracare was able to match the landscape of this property with the building’s breathtaking interior. To achieve this, we provided the client with ongoing maintenance of the project as well as enhancements throughout the property. Our incredible team has been overcoming the intense Texas heat and water restrictions to allow greenery to flourish. Water conservation has been crucial to this property and will continue to be a priority.

The REC of Grapevine, Texas-

The REC of Grapevine is the crown jewel of Grapevine Parks and Recreation. It is located on 108,000 square feet. This includes 7,000 square feet of fitness rooms, a state-of-the-art senior center, an indoor pool, multipurpose rooms and game rooms. By resolving the poor soil conditions and installing a drip irrigation system we were able to provide the residents of Grapevine a facility where they can enjoy a healthier lifestyle and also enjoy the community.

The Source, Colorado-

The Source is a bustling artisan food market in Denver’s River North Arts District. When the client decided to renovate their parking lot, they realized it was also the perfect time to update their landscape. The Source is located in an old iron works building. When it came time to complete the new landscape the client wanted an atmosphere with a more organic feel. Furthermore, the client desired a beautiful landscape that their guests could admire as they make their way to the entrance. To accomplish this, our crews started work at three in the morning every day to avoid the Denver traffic. In addition to that they had to use innovative techniques to address issues. These issues included lack of curb, runoff issues and a limited tree install space.

Wind Crest Retirement Community, Colorado-

Wind Crest Retirement Community encompasses over 84 acres and allows for an upscale living center for those ages 62 and older. The client’s primary objective for this property is to provide a safe environment for all of the individuals who visit and live there. Moreover, the client requests a well-maintained and beautiful landscape for the residents to enjoy. Our landscape gives the current residents with spectacular surroundings and encourages future residents to join the community. Being able to use the landscape as a selling point to potential residents is very important to the client.

NALP Award Winning Property: North City Water Reclamation Plant

Littleton, CO, January 12, 2018 – Terracare Associates- TCA, a Monarch Landscape Company is proud to announce it has been awarded an Award of Excellence- Merit Award by the National Association of Landscape Professionals for the North City Water Reclamation property.

North City Water Reclamation Plant, California-

North City is the premier water reclamation plant for the city. This landscape restoration project focused on the conversion of what used to be turf (80% reduction) and original overgrown plant material, into a drought tolerant landscape. This project sits on approximately four acres of land which includes the grounds, upper and lower level meeting areas, and parking lots. Through the landscape provider, the landscape designer, and in coordination with the city, the intention was to create an attractive and engaging water-wise landscape for drought conditions that would comply with minimal water usage on this property. There are certain viewpoints and seating for the public to enjoy at their leisure, which capture views of ocean-inspired designs including a variety of beaches, a fire pit, crashed boats, dropped buoys and coral reefs.

Each year, the National Association Landscape Professionals Awards of Excellence recognizes exceptional landscape, lawn care, and interior plantscape design projects from around the nation. This year only, 136 awards were bestowed for maintenance, design/build or contracting projects across the United States.

Los Colinas Corporate I & II, Texas-

Los Colinas Corporate I & II is set on more than seven acres that supports close to 450 employees. When the current landscape maintenance contractor began servicing the property, the Las Colinas’ new property manager was disappointed with the upkeep and curb appeal of the previous property manager’s style and the lack of ongoing maintenance. The building management company was concerned that occupancy rates might fall due to the marginal upkeep. The building needed to attract and retain more tenants. The new management reached out to the landscape maintenance company with high expectations for maintenance and enhancement work, but they had a limited budget. The landscape contractor worked closely with the property manager to design a phased plan to meet the budget constraints and exceed the property management company’s expectations. In addition, the front entrance courtyard was of particular interest to the management team to add a focal point to the entrance of the corporate complex.

The client is known for being a benchmark of customer service with clean, modern and bright departments that reflect a memorable showroom environment. The landscape service provider had to be invisible to clients and staff when performing lawn maintenance. The landscape needed to remain understated while keeping the grounds free of litter and weeds, the grass mowed to the proper height, the shrubs pruned at proper height, and vibrant blooming flowers maintained. The client also relied on the landscape service provider to make recommendations for improving the property while also maintaining a strong relationship.

A focal point of this project was water conservation. The client’s intent was to work closely with the district to reduce water while also provide enjoyable areas for employees to go on their breaks. There is a strong relationship between the water district and the landscape provider due to a commitment to being conscious of water savings. It was determined that the maintenance contractor would maintain a well-manicured, professional appearance for customers by creating inviting and conveniently located landscapes.

Terracare Associates ranked 22^nd on the 2017 Lawn & Landscape Top 100 list, making Terracare the largest landscape provider headquartered in Colorado.

Terracare Wins 2017 Community Stewardship Award

Terracare Associates was awarded the 2017 Community Stewardship Award by the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado for its collaboration with Montclair School of Academics and Enrichment to build outdoor educational spaces.

“One of our core values as a company is to give back to the communities in which we operate. This is the seventh learning garden we have built and our first garden in Colorado. It has been a great partnership working with the Montclair staff, children and parent volunteers,” says Cristin Tarr, marketing director at Terracare Associates.

TCA began the process of installing a learning garden at the school in early spring of 2016. The six month project included excavation of the garden area, installation of a footpath and planters, and establishment of an extensive irrigation system. In the process of building the garden, TCA contributed more than 300 hours of volunteer labor and thousands of dollars worth of donated time, talent, materials and equipment. The garden features 32 raised planting beds, providing each classroom with its own space to garden. The western edge of the garden has been set aside to grow pumpkins, squash, melons and gourds for use in all classrooms. Beans, peas, grapes and other vine plants are grown on the surrounding fence.

The goal of this project is to provide students with hands-on learning experiences that align with grade level standards while also teaching them new skills and responsibility. The students in each classroom are responsible for making decisions about what to plant and maintaining their sections of the garden throughout the growing season. Montclair took an extra step to keep students engaged and the garden well-maintained by creating a school club called “The Green Paws”. The organization consists of students of all ages and a committee of teachers and parents who participate in activities that support sustainability and the upkeep of the learning garden.

“Terracare Associates made our dreams of creating an outdoor classroom garden space a reality. The professional support from their design team, community outreach, and labor was above and beyond our hopes for the project. We have been able to tie in lessons from the classroom to the gardens for each of our grade levels which impacts each of our 400 students,” said Heather Manone, enrichment coordinator for Montclair School of Academics and Enrichment.

Terracare is proud to work with Montclair to provide students with hands-on learning experiences that help them grow in the classroom and beyond.

The City of Centennial Public Works Department Earns Accreditation

In 2008, the City of Centennial launched a large-scale public private partnership with CH2M, and Terracare Associates was selected as a subcontractor to perform comprehensive public works maintenance for the city. Of the almost 40,000 municipalities, townships and county governments in the U.S., Centennial’s public works department became the 119th accredited public works agency and the first public-private partnership public works agency in the U.S.

The maintenance Terracare Associates provides includes street maintenance, sign maintenance and installation, snow removal, tree maintenance and removal, traffic signal maintenance, erosion control, street sweeping, trash and debris removal, and maintenance of the award-winning Centennial Center Park.

“It is a real honor to be a contributor to this accreditation. I could not be more proud of our team working every day to ensure the citizens of Centennial are safe and the city looks its best,” said Justin Stewart, Vice President of Public Infrastructure for Terracare Associates.

The accreditation process is no easy feat. There are 40 chapters and 608 sub-chapters in the accreditation process in public works, 360 of those applicable to Centennial. CH2M and the city wanted to demonstrate that the city was compliant with the accreditation requirements for each applicable sub-chapter. To do so, they provided documentation of city policies backed up by actual processes and associated work proofs related to each individual accreditation service area.

“This is a milestone for our city. Meeting the criteria for this accreditation confirms we have been moving in the right direction since the city was formed,” said Centennial Mayor Cathy Noon.

The accreditation program aims to promote self-improvement within an organization; offer an evaluation and education program; recognize exemplary performance; improve public works performance and delivery of services; increase professionalism; and instill pride among agency staff, elected officials and the local community.
